Meditation is a spiritual practice practiced in many religions and cultures. Mindfulness or concentration exercises should calm and concentrate the mind. The various techniques depend on their traditional origin and are intended to lead to a state of consciousness in which extremely clear, wide-awake awareness and deepest relaxation are possible at the same time.
