Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu (Beginner Course)
In this course, you’ll be introduced to Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu, a traditional Japanese martial art that originated from the classical martial arts schools (ryūha) of the samurai and ninja.
The focus is clearly on Taijutsu—unarmed close-quarters combat and the effective use of one’s own body.
The course teaches the principles of natural movement (Shizen no Ugoki), body structure, sense of distance (Maai), and timing. Through practicing forms (Kata) as well as in practical application, you will learn to execute your movements in a fluid and controlled manner.
Course Content:
General physical and movement training (Taihenjutsu)
Breakfall techniques: Ukemi and Kaiten (various forms of rolling and breakfall techniques)
Basic Kamae (Kamae no Kata) for a stable and flexible fighting stance and mental attitude
Kihon Happō, the eight basic forms of Budō Taijutsu with fundamental striking and joint-lock techniques
Atemi Waza (striking and kicking techniques) as well as Uke Waza (blocking and evasion movements)
The focus is on the content of the 9th, 8th, and 7th Kyū, providing you with a structured foundation in Bujinkan training. The course is designed for beginners as well as participants with some prior experience. The goal is to develop a feel for efficient movement, balance (Kuzushi), and body tension, and to provide a practical understanding of the principles of Taijutsu.
