Lacrosse is considered the fastest ball sport on two legs and combines speed, strength and, above all, team play with skill and tactical finesse. Invented by the indigenous population of the North American east coast, lacrosse has been on the rise for several years and will be an Olympic sport again in Los Angeles in 2028.
The aim of the game is to get a hard rubber ball the size of a tennis ball into the opponent's goal. To do this, the ball is passed and caught using sticks with a landing net at the end. The game is played on a field the size of a soccer pitch. The rules for men and women are very different. While the men, wearing hockey-like protective clothing and a deeply curved stick, use strength and physical contact to prevail against their opponents, the women's game is more about athleticism, cleverness and tactical teamwork. However, there is a suitable combination for everyone thanks to the different game variations and positions. The different variations are taught in the course.
The course is for beginners and is played without physical contact. Bats and balls are provided. The basics such as catching, throwing and shooting are taught. During the course, the rules, the origins of lacrosse and, of course, attacking and defending are also covered. Lacrosse focuses on the sporting aspect, but fairness, team spirit and fun on and off the pitch also play an important role.
Note:
Please bring sports shoes (preferably artificial turf shoes), sports clothing suitable for the weather and plenty to drink. If possible, please bring contact lenses or unbreakable sports glasses.
